Qingdao, China

Qingdao was once a German colony for 16 years from 1896 until 1914. The legacy of the colonial rule could be seen still in the city. Tsingdao beer is a popular brand in the nation. It was originally founded by German. There are old buildings built during the period in the town. They give European atmosphere all over the city. Qingdao is different from other Chinese towns.

St.Michael Cathedral is located on the hill in the old district of the town. The construction of the Cathedral was planed by a German Catholic missionary during the occupation. It took long time until the construction was begun in 1931 and it was completed in 1935. Like the other Catholic Churches in the country, it had been left run-down under the communist rule in 1949.

I visited the place in the evening when the church was closed. However, there were some couples wearing the wedding dress who came to photo-shootings of their wedding.
